About New Hampshire Farms
At New Hampshire Farms, I’m passionate about strengthening New Hampshire agriculture by connecting farmers with customers. My mission is to promote local farms throughout the state, bringing you fresh, sustainable foods like pasture-raised chicken, grass-fed beef and organic produce. I believe in the power of local agriculture to nourish communities and protect and restore our environment.
My Story
Four years ago, I started raising backyard chickens. I was blown away by their unique personalities, hilarious quirks, and how much they clearly LOVED running loose in my yard. It made me realize that they’re far more interesting, adventurous animals than I ever imagined. And it highlighted for me the cruelty of factory farming, keeping chickens penned up in tiny cages their entire lives. It made me not want to buy grocery store chicken anymore.

My primary goal in creating this site was to fill a need that I myself have. How could I find a place near me where I can buy pasture-raised chicken meat? Also, sometimes I want to eat something that isn’t carried in a typical grocery store. For example, goat meat. I figured, I’m probably not the only one with these questions! So I designed a website with functionality that lets you search for a particular type of meat and find local farms that sell it. Why New Hampshire specifically? Because I live (and eat) here! My other primary goal was to promote regenerative agriculture, inspired by the work of the amazing Joel Salatin at Polyface Farms. Regenerative ag produces more nutritious meat with far more humane animal husbandry practices than factory-farmed meat. It also actually improves the health and vitality of the soil on which the animals are raised. It’s heartwarming to discover that almost ALL of the farms in New Hampshire are some variation of organic, regenerative, and/or sustainable. There are several other websites that profile New Hampshire farms. But when looking through them, I noticed two things. One was that several of them are government-funded. I favor free market solutions, since you never know what angle or bias the government might be injecting into its content. The other is that some of those sites are sadly out of date. A farm database needs to be actively maintained to be helpful.
My Commitment
I’m committed to sustainability, eating local, and food quality. My goal is to have the most comprehensive and up-to-date searchable map of New Hampshire farms on the ‘net. By highlighting eco-friendly local farming, this site helps not just New Hampshire farms, but the state economy, to grow stronger. Whether you’re a local seeking grassfed beef or raw milk, a farmer listing your CSA, or a restaurant sourcing farm-to-table ingredients, New Hampshire Farms is here to connect you. Join me in supporting New Hampshire’s agricultural legacy and enjoy the freshest foods. Get in touch with me or explore my farm directory today!
